Awake in Sleep

A twinkle of a breast catches my eye, and I remember, I remember now.
How did I ever get this far?
Have I reached the sky?
''There's none up there love, they don't live up there.''
And as she rose, the swirls knotted her eyes; lashes gripped in fear, taking her toward another night,
another night of sugared fear.
I rest with what I am in sleep, darkness remembers me.
Rock salt brings peace,
and I rest, yes I rest, in the mornings early dawn of darkness.
I fell asleep,
I finally fell asleep.

I looked fear straight in the eyes without even knowing.
She wasn't scary, she was just scared and in need of reassurance, in search of guidance.
Fear expresses itself in sometimes hurtful ways, but we must remember that underneath these hurtful outbursts, is where fear is hidden, masking herself.
Treat fear just as gently as you would kindness.

''You don't need eyes to see, you need vision.''
